Where is your hometown? 

• I was born and bred in Vung Tau city. I’ve been living there for more than 20 years now. There have been so many changes in my city, especially its infrastructure.

• I was born in Hung Yen, but I moved here when I was 3 years old because my father had another job. I spent my childhood here and got a lot of friends, that’s why I always consider VT as my hometown

What do you like most about your hometown?

• I guess just like everyone else, I’m in love with this city’s nature. It’s a coastal city and my home is quite near to the beach. Every day, I can go to the seaside, enjoy the crisp air and chat to my friends while having some snacks.
• I love the people here, they’re so friendly and kind. There was one time when I ran out of gas, I had to walk my motorbike for a long distance until a passerby came close and gave me a bottle of gas which was enough for me to go home. I’m so grateful for that.

What do you not like about it?

• Until now, I’m rather satisfied with it so I haven’t seen anything worth mentioning. However, if I were the president of this town, I would try to build more entertainment parks so people can have more things to do at weekends.
• Actually, my city is quite polluted and crowded, especially at weekends when flocks of tourists come to my city. They’ll go to the beach, have food and litter everywhere. That creates such an awful scene after they leave.

Would you prefer to live somewhere else? (Why)?

• Yes, as I’m 18 now, I guess I’ll move to Saigon to continue my study at university. It will be the first time I live independently so I’m really looking forward to it.
• No, VT is considered to be one of the most worth-living cities in Vietnam. Here, we have everything: fresh air, mild weather all year round, adequate facilities, like shopping malls, cinemas, fitness centres..Also, most of my friends, relatives are living here so I guess I will stay here for a long time.

So, to start with, I’ll talk about my hometown, Vung Tau, which is a coastal city in the south of VN. It’s famous for its public beaches and various scrumptious seafood dishes. Every weekend, flocks of tourists from other provinces, mostly from HCMC, visit my hometown for some fresh air and also to get away from the hustle and bustle of a megacity.

Now on the subject of what is special about my city, I have to mention that not only does my city have a lot of tourist attractions like The White Palace or the VT museum, it also has a variety of specialties like Banh khot, Lau ca duoi,..I always feel so grateful to live here. There are lots of beautiful sceneries you can visit in a short distance, we have beaches, mountains, hot springs, rice paddy fields,.. Whenever I’m sad, i will ride around the corniche, breathe in the fresh air, watch the sunset.

Continuing to the next point of comparing it to other cities in the world, i can say that I haven’t had the chance to travel to many places in the world, however, compared to a metropolis like HCMC, mine is a fairly peaceful one. If you come here during the week, you can see that most of the stores are closed after 9. Nightlife doesn’t seem to exist here. Sometimes it seems to be boring to live in such a quiet place, however, when you live here, you rarely have to care about traffic jams or pollution.

Sample Speaking Part 2 Topic: Talk About Your Hometown band 7.0

I was born in Hung Yen, a city in the north of Vietnam. My hometown is a village in the countryside, where you can see lots of paddy fields and herds of buffalos and cows roaming on the streets. I’m so grateful of being raised in such a natural environment like that. Most of my friends living in urban areas haven’t ever seen a real buffalo in their lifetime before. Living in the countryside also has many other perks.

Although we don’t have any computer games to play, we can make our own games utilizing everything we have at hand to make the most of our resources. Sometimes, we mold clays to make different tiny animals.

Sometimes, we use rocks and chalks to play O An Quan – a traditional game in VN. There are other times when we go fishing in our lake or jumping from a branch to see who has the funniest somersault in the air.

Although now I’m living in Vung Tau, HY still holds a special place in my heart.  I still come back there whenever I can, especially in summer holidays when most of my cousins get free time to play with me.

How easy is it to find a place to live in your country?

It’s pretty easy if you live in urban areas. There are all sorts of accommodation, ranging from apartments, houses, rooms for rent. But also, it depends on your budget as well. The closer it is to some amenities like markets or schools, the higher the prices can become.

However, if you’re willing to share your room with other people, you can look out on the Internet. There are pages or groups for finding houses and roommates.

Do you think it’s better to rent or to buy a place to live in?

I guess it depends on each individual, whether or not they want to settle down or whether they are financially healthy or not. Most people in my country will choose to save money, rent a house to live first, then when they reach a certain point in their saving account, they will start to have a mortgage or take advantage of all of their relationships to borrow money and use the rest of their lives to pay for it. For me, being in debt for a long period of time is really stressful, so I guess I will just rent a place to live.

Do you agree that there is a right age for young adults to stop living with their parents?

Not really, although parents should educate their children so that they can live independently, there shouldn’t be a certain age for adults to move out of the house. As long as there is mutual respect and they are not becoming a burden on the other side, like parents should respect their children’s freedom and in return, adults shouldn’t rely on their parents financially or mentally, they can live peacefully under the same roof.

Kinh nghiệm làm bài nói Speaking chủ đề Hometown

Chủ đề liên quan đến quê hương của bạn tưởng chừng rất gần gũi, quen thuộc Câu hỏi có thể đề cập đến các vấn đề như danh lam thắng cảnh tại quê hương, thực trạng phát triển của quê hương, miêu tả về con người, cảnh vât, điều ở quê hương khiến bạn ấn tượng hay sự đổi thay của quê hương theo thời gian…

Để có bài IELTS Speaking chủ đề Hometown tốt, công tác chuẩn bị cả về nội dung, tinh thần và kỹ năng là điều không thể thiếu. Điều đầu tiên bạn cần nắm chắc là cấu trúc bài Speaking và đặc điểm của từng Part đã được The Forum thể hiện chi tiết trong phần giới thiệu chủ đề ở trên.

Điều thứ hai, bạn cần hiểu cách giám khảo chấm bài thi Speaking. Bài nói được chấm dựa trên các tiêu chí:

2.  Nguồn từ vựng sử dụng phong phú và chính xác, sử dụng các từ có mức độ khó khác nhau.
3. Sử dụng cấu trúc câu đa dạng và chính xác được đánh giá qua việc áp dụng câu ghép.
4. Cách phát âm gồm nguyên âm. phụ âm, trọng âm, ngữ điệu, ngắt nhịp.

Điều thứ 3, bạn cần luyện nói thật nhiều để có được tốc độ nói phù hợp, có tư duy về nội dung và rèn luyện các yếu tố thuộc cách phát âm. Muốn nói tốt thì con đường trực tiếp và hiệu quả nhất là nói nhiều.
