It is argued that learning native languages is not as crucial as learning English. Many people may have the risk of being left behind if the languages are not taught. From my perspective, I suppose that learning English can bring some significant benefits to learners; however, local languages also play a vital part in society that people need to maintain its existence by applying a wide range of methods. This essay will shed light on a plethora of reasons for my vision as follows.
On the one hand, learning English is advantageous to a certain extent. First of all, applicants can stand a better opportunities thanks for their degree of the language. Many employers nowadays consider being fluent in the main language of the world as one of their most important factors in hiring workers, so it would be an appreciable advantage of employees who can use English to get applied. There have been a lot of cases which people get rejected because of the lack of their knowledge in English. Thus, it is considerable for individuals, particularly who are job seekers to learn the most popular language. Additionally, to travel and interact with others in the other side of the world, it is required for travelers to know English as a tool of communication. If they do not know a word of English, it may be tough for visitors to enjoy eventually their trips. For all that, I think it is a need for everyone to pick up English.
On the other hand, local languages should also be given a similar recognition. One of the main reasons is that to preserve the culture of a country, passing down their language is the key. If their mother tongues got extinct, it would be a threat that their nations might disappear in the world map. Moreover, conservation of cultures helps to stabilize the global cultural diversity, which is a major factor that many international organizations are trying to maintain. Therefore, there are some ideas of saving some native languages from extinction. First and foremost, people in the country, especially children, have to be aware of the significance of conserving their first language. Governments should produce some advertisements that spread the importance of their languages in many aspects of life so that people can easily have access to the information and increasingly form awareness. Moreover, English sessions should not be taken over those of local languages. Many schools in recent years look down on the value of their own language but English, which can give a hand to the dying of it. Governments should implement some laws to prohibit this negative development.
In conclusion, although English is beneficial for the learners of it; however, I believe that dialects should be still seen as seriously as the aforementioned and certain action should be taken to ensure the survival of local languages.
