Task 1
Question

The graph below shows the proportion of four different materials that were recycled from 1982 to 2010 in a particular country.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Answer

The line graph illustrates the percentage of four different materials which were recycled between 1982 and 2010 in a specifically country.
Overall, the three types of recyclable materials are paper and cardboard, glass containers which tends to fluctuate significantly while the alumininium cans rise sharply over the period and the plastics are stable.
As we can see in the line graph that the paper and cardboard fluctuated slightly from 1982 to 1990, accounting for about 65 percent while the glass containers decreased significantly which reduces from 50 percent to 40 percent. Between 1990 and 1994 , both the paper and cardboard and the glass containers rose from 65 percent to 80 percent and from 40 percent to 50 percent respectiively. After that, there was a decrease of paper being recycled, acounting for about 80 percent in 1994 and about 70 in 2010. In contrast, the glass containers rose slightly which take up for from 50 percent to 60 percent between 1994 and 2010.
The alumininium cans tended to go up rapidly over the period from 1986 to 2010, increased from 7 percent to 45 percent. Whereas, there was the remain stable trend of plastics, account for from 2 percent to 10 percent in the last 20 years.

Question

Write about the following topic:

Learning English at school is often seen as more important than learning local languages. If these are not taught, many are at risk of dying out. 

In your opinion, is it important for everyone to learn English? Should we try to ensure the survival of local languages and, if so, how?

 

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
