Presented for consideration is line graph reveals the proportion of four different materials that were recycled from 1982 to 2010 in a particular country. Overall, there was an opposite trend between paper & cardboard and the rest.
In term of down trend. Paper & cardboard is used as example. Paper & cardboard began at 65% and increased slightly to 70% after 2 years. It fell again to 65% in the next 2 years and reach a peak at 80% in 1994. After that is the steady decline from 1994 to 2010 and end at 70%.
Turning to increase trend. Let’s start with the aluminium cans and plastic, they are both increased over the years. Although, aluminium cans had a crazy increase from 5% to 45% from 1986 to 2010. The last line is glass containers, it start at 50% and fall to 40% from 1982 to 1990. At the same year, the line began climb and was over at 60% in 2010.

Question

Write about the following topic:

Learning English at school is often seen as more important than learning local languages. If these are not taught, many are at risk of dying out.

In your opinion, is it important for everyone to learn English? Should we try to ensure the survival of local languages and, if so, how?

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
