Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Write at least 150 words.

Answer

The line graph illustrates the recycling rate of four different types of materials over 30 years, from 1982 to 2010.

As can be seen from the graph, glass containers and aluminum cans are increasing steadily. The plastics’ rates from the year 1990 to 2010 did not improve much throughout the years. For paper and cardboard, these are the two most commonly used in every aspect, and yet their recycling rates are decreasing since 1994.

In the first 8 years from 1982 to 1990, the glass containers and the paper and cardboard were the first two materials to be recycled. The glass’ rates had decreased continuously, things were not too good for the other one either, as they were ups and downs. But starting from 1990, the number just kept increasing for the glass containers. The other one hit its peak in the year 1994, but went down the dumps in the next few decades.

From 1982 to 1986, people started to repurpose aluminum cans and it had become the most recycled material ever since. Coming late to the recycling industry after aluminum cans, but having dominated the world with its abilities, plastics had made its way into every single industry in the world. From the packaging to the product, plastics appeared in various shapes and forms. And yet, the amount of plastics that were recycled was nowhere near the actual amount used. In 20 years, the plastics recycling percentage only increased by 10%.

Answer

English has become the most commonly used language in all five continents. There is a saying that if you learn French, you can only travel to France, but if you learn English, you can travel all around the world. English has become a must-have skill if you want to have a good job with a higher salary, but is just a tool that people need to accomplish business or relationship goals in life. Native language is more than just a tool.

First, let’s talk real quick about why there are so many different local languages in the world. Millennia of revolution, humans had developed from creating symbols to the alphabet, some infused symbols into their alphabets, some created a different one. For example, the Roman alphabet does not contain symbols like the Han’s alphabet. But no matter how they look and spell, all of them contained thousands of years of continuously changing culture. The Language is every nation’s living history, it tells the stories that are long gone, carries on the mysteries and historical events from the ancestors’ time. If you want to know how rich a nation’s culture is, learn their language. Every word has its distinctive beauty and meaning, and stories of why it is the way it is that have existed for generations.

Secondly, the local language is more than a communication tool between locals, English does that too, but it is the soul and pride of that nation, and an effective way to teach youngsters of who they are, what traditions they had for thousands of years, of what had happened in the past. To keep them alive, to keep the local language existence, the local education must show the young generations the beauty, the reason why it is so important to learn about their traditions, to not be colonized, brainwashed by other nations.

English is indeed important, but unlike local languages, English is a tool used for a specific work and to communicate with people who do not share the same history with local people. It might help locals learn more about their mother language if they want to, but it shall never change the fact that English is not their mother language, it does not contain, and in some cases, can not convey the true beauty and precise meaning in the local languages.
