Task 1

Question

The graph below shows the proportion of four different materials that were recycled from 1982 to 2010 in a particular country.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Answer

Regarding the paper and cardboard recycled, it had a good start as 65 percent and went up to 80 percent about 10 years and then went down gradually to 70 percent for next 20 years. For the glass containers, the graph shows it started from 50 percent and went down to 40 percent in 8 years and then the recycle of the glass containers was increased to 60 percent for the next 22 years, this was an average recycle process.

The alumininium cans recycle process took the start a little bit late in 1984 from about 5 percent but it was gradually increased to 45 percent for nearly 30 years. But the overall percent of alumininium cans was quite low as it was under 50 percent for 30 years.

The recycled process of the plastics was started late in 1988 with 3 percent and increased nearly to 9 percent for more than 20 years. The plastic recycled process shows how hard it can be recycled, and it needs to be paid more attention to improve the process to reclycle it more.

Write about the following topic:

Learning English at school is often seen as more important than learning local languages. If these are not taught, many are at risk of dying out.

In your opinion, is it important for everyone to learn English? Should we try to ensure the survival of local languages and, if so, how?

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
